about

For the last few years, a May/June tour has been the focal point of the Bridges of Königsberg calendar. Since we no longer all live in the same city, touring is our opportunity to share in the joy of live music-making (along with related pleasures like long drives across the Midwest). We’ve also used our tours as an opportunity to schedule studio time in Milwaukee, continuing our long-standing tradition of making records through real-time group improvisation, all done by playing together in a room.

We were all set to do it again this year, and then… 2020 happened. So THE CELEBRITY VETO is something different, something we made to keep us together even though we have to be apart. Since we couldn’t share the experience of being together in a room, we leaned hard in the opposite direction, coming up with a variety of strategies to make Internet file-trading into a series of creative provocations. What would happen if we embraced “studio trickery” and post-production technique? What would happen if we remixed, manipulated, and transformed each other’s work?

In short: things got weird. We ended up with a double LP's worth of our most adventurous music yet. (You’ll have to imagine the gatefold artwork). We found new ways to experience the joy of sound-making with each other, to drive each other pleasantly batty, and to speak through music directly to the current moment. And now we’re sharing THE CELEBRITY VETO with you.

All proceeds will be used in direct support of Milwaukee-area protests against police brutality and structural racism.
